Highly weather resistant powder coating in architecture The coating compounds in the field of architecture are subject to extensive, permanently upgraded quality directives. Materials used are expected to ensure a perfect corrosion resistance, excelent colour stability, gloss retention and additionally good cleanability for a long life-expectancy. The well-established quality standards for facades, based on polyester, will barely conform to the broad requirement profile. There are three different quality classes today: Standard, Master and Premium. The distinction is essentially made between the weather-resistance and corrosion resistance. Besides of mechanical properties, the decorative characteristics will be tested in accelerated weatherings and in the so-called Florida weathering test. The results of the first coating materials submitted to the GSB as Premium Quality respectively Master Quality are present to us and have been extensively analysed.

Where is the development in the window-, facade-, door- and conservatory technology heading for? Themes like environmental protection, resource-saving energy consumption have accompanied the real estate and building sector since the seventies. With the apparent climate change, increasing energy and commodity prices, rose in previous years the pressure, to keep the environmental influences of building activities to a minimum.
A new magic word arose ENERGY-EFFICIENT CONSTRUCTION. Sustainability in the buildingand construction industry goes far beyond the energy efficiency. Economical and ecological impacts decisively influence the residents, investors and window custructors in equal measure. Years of experience demonstrate that constructions based on consideration of sustainability-related criteria have advantages over the conventional type of building even though the building costs increase.
Requirements on construction design of windows and sun protection To rationalise and brighten up the existing profile constructions would only earn a short-term rest in the EnEV- olympic contest. What shall we do with our profile constructions in the future ? There`s a high demand on unconditioned clarification what`s the use of a profile which just meets the required U-value (or "in other words" the declared value of lost thermal energy in a certain time). What shall we do in three-four years or simply said - what will be our response to damp spots and mold infestation in window installations at customer`s ? Very simple. An expert will come and assess, the RSI (thermal value inside) is not good. What a pity, an U-value set-screw for windows hasn`t been invented yet! All those events only demonstrate how we shouldn`t do it, don`t they? Perhaps should we learn to change our way of thinking ? Quality pays off and all of us benefit from.

Future of the photovoltaics
Hans-Jürgen Lowalt is a “photovoltaics-veteran”. He has accompanied the scene of renewable energies for nearly 40 years.1996 to 2000 The roots of the future are in the past. The attitude of the society towards the solar energy at that time was considerably more positive than on the side of politics. 1998 brought a decisive turn of events. 2000 to 2010 The change comes on 1st of April 2000 in the form of “Renewable Energy Law” (EEG). The silicon deficiency and limited capacities of the industry are the only barriers retarding the market growth. 2010 to 2030 Grid parity is the ambitious target. The costs of energy generated by solar power are equal to the delivery costs straight from the socket. Prognoses assume that the switch to 100% renewable energies is expected to be half as expensive as the total nuclear energy and fossil fuels demand in this period of time.

CE-Marking & ENEV 2009 Lecture on the CE-Marking will descriptively point out from a European point of view how it has developed in the recent years and how important for the home market it has become. These standards were bindingly stipulated in the window and façade industry as per 1.2.2010. In his presentation the expert will go into details about practicability, legal relevancy and the tendering procedures. The consequences in case of nonobservance will also be mentioned. Requisite proofs of essential standards will be realistically explicated and the participants will have a possibility to ask questions. The presentation of EnEV2009 (Energy Saving Ordinance 2009) will lively explain the major specifications of the DIN standard 4108. From his own experience as an expert, the speaker will indicate the tricks to be expected when ignoring the EnEV. Practically relevant examples should help to put the not easily understandable EnEV into praxis.

We are entering from 2010 to 2020 the most prosperous decade since 1945! After the crisis in the financial markets caused by US investment bankers on Wallstreet in 2008/2009 in an ultrasuperlative style of economic crime which has strongly affected the global economy, the normality is back on the most of economic fronts. The fact is that from 2010 to 2020 the EU, particularly the BRIC countries, will experience enduring and substantial growth. Other than the USA which will drift into economic recession or stagnation at best. It is also an accepted fact that in the second decade of the third millennium the epoch-making innovations, particularly developed and manufactured in Europe, will ispire the populations. Tourism as a driving force will support this process over and above. The innovative trade by 2015 will be the largest employer in Europe. This sector will stimulate the economic growth additionally.
